Bill Jury

BILL JURY ATHLETE 2000

Bill Jury was a well-rounded athlete in high school who always performed at the highest level possible.  He graduated from Lincoln High School in 1980 and since then has continued to excel athletically and professionally.  Bill was an outstanding student athlete who participated in football, hockey, and tennis.  For three years he was a starter for football and hockey.  In football, he was named the most valuable defensive player and was an all-conference selection his junior and senior years.  Bill was an all-state goalie in hockey his senior year.  In tennis he won section singles titles as a freshman, sophomore, and junior.  He was also a doubles champion his senior year.  He participated in four consecutive state tennis tournaments during his high school sports career.  Bill captained both the football and tennis teams his senior year.

After graduating from high school, Bill continued to excel not only athletically, but also academically. He attended the University of Minnesota in Duluth were he played tennis all four years.  During his college years, he won four conference singles titles, two conference doubles titles, and three conference team titles.  In 1984, Bill also became conference MVP and was captain of the tennis team.

Presently, Bill Jury works as the director of Northwest Passage II, which is a treatment center for delinquent young men.  He puts emphasis on building self-esteem and skills through fitness, hard work, and outdoor activities.  His goal for every youth at the center is to leave with improved work skills, increased academic and athletic abilities, and improved personal relationships.
