Derwood Lund

DERWOOD J. “SWEDE” LUND ATHLETE 1995

Derwood “Swede” Lund is a 1948 graduate of Lincoln High School.  While in high school he participated in football, hockey, track and baseball.

     “Swede” attended the University of North Dakota where he earned three letters in hockey and was captain his senior year.  He played Semi-Pro Baseball and Semi-Pro Hockey until 1953.  He was the first hockey coach for Northland Community College.  

      “Swede” Lund has been involved in education at many levels.  Since 1967 he has been a corrections officer with the Minnesota Corrections Department.  From 1982-1992 he was Superintendent and C.E.O. of the Minnesota Correctional Facility, Thistledew Camp, located in Togo, Minnesota.

     Mr. Lund is presently retired and lives in Effie, Minnesota.
