Don Wennberg
Don W. Wennberg is a 1960 graduate of Lincoln High School. While in high school, he was a member of the Student Council, a Boys’ State representative, a member of the orchestra, a Top Ten student, the Prowler Yearbook Editor-in-Chief, and a member of the National Honor Society.
Wennberg is a graduate of the University of Minnesota and the University of Minnesota’s Medical School. Before he could begin his internship, he was called to serve in the military. While in Vietnam, he was awarded the Bronze Star.
Wennberg’s early interest in community service has continued throughout his life. He was one of the founders of the Brainerd Medical Center in 1974, where he helped establish a high level of quality. As a surgeon, Wennberg’s commitment to and compassion for his patients has often resulted in providing care at no cost. Though a part-owner of the Brainerd Medical Center, he is noted for his unique ability to work with physicians and employees as a colleague and not as “boss.”
Wennberg is a member of many Brainerd-area boards and committees. For the six years that he served on the St. Joseph Medical Center Foundation, he made large contributions both financially and as a volunteer.
Wennberg has also contributed his finances and time to Trinity Lutheran Church, where he has been a faithful member for fourteen years.
Dr. Wennberg is an asset to the community of Brainerd and is a highly-respected professional who has had a vital impact on his community by serving its people.
