Yvonne Asp-Grahn is a 2000 graduate of Lincoln High School where she competed at the state level in both Speech and Envirothon.  She was a Magnet Arts Student, a member of the National Honor Society, and lettered in music, performance arts, academics, and athletics at Lincoln High School.  In 1999 Yvonne won the state class AA speech championship in Serious Interpretation of Poetry, competing with the best speakers from the Twin Cities area.   

 

After high school she attended the University of Minnesota, Twin Cities where she majored in English and worked for the University of Minnesota theater department.  Graduate work at the University of St. Thomas in English Literature was the start to her career in teaching.  She is currently an instructor of English at the University of St. Thomas teaching Critical Thinking and Dystopian Literature. 

 

In 2002, while a student at the University of Minnesota, Yvonne returned to Thief River Falls and directed “You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown” in 2001 and also “Noises Off” in 2002.  She has a strong history of giving back to Thief River Falls and, to this day, returns to the family farm to drive combine during harvest. 

 

In addition to her teaching career, Yvonne works as a ceramic artist and owns a small business– Pleasant Street Pottery– in Prior Lake, MN. 

 

Yvonne is married to Brent Grahn and they have 2 children, Odin and Estelle. They reside in Prior Lake, MN
