GLEN PETERS COACH/”LINCOLN HIGH SCHOOL AMBASSADOR” 2001

Glen Peters, affectionately called “Coach Pete” is a highly respected man whose magnetic personality and heart of gold have touched hundreds as a coach, teacher and community member.  His outstanding work habits and leadership abilities have earned him respect from a community of admirers.  The statewide reputation of Lincoln High School has certainly been elevated because of “Coach Pete’s” ambassadorship.

Glen Peters is a 1954 graduate of Jordan High School.  He earned a Bachelor of Science degree at Gustavus Adolphus College in St. Peter, Minnesota.  After completing his education, he moved to Goodridge, Minnesota.  There he coached football, basketball and baseball for ten years.  The experience Glen gained in Goodridge proved valuable in preparing him for 27 years of coaching and teaching in Thief River Falls.  His successful 1965 Goodridge basketball team was a highlight of his career.   This team was the District 31 champion, with a record of 24-1.  On top of this triumph, he was honored that year as District 31 Coach of the Year.  He touched the lives of many young people not only in sports, but also in the classroom as a physical education, health and social studies instructor for almost four decades.

Currently, he enjoys his retirement, spending time volunteering as a coach, and attending football clinics.  His positive attitude, contagious smile and great spirit make him a well-respected and truly admired man.
