JACK POOLE ATHLETE 2000

Jack Poole is a 1956 graduate of Lincoln High School.  He participated in hockey and baseball, serving as a captain in both sports his senior year.  Jack led the Prowlers to the Minnesota State Championship in 1956 and was an all-state that year.  In fact, Jack is a main character in the book about that team, River of Champions.  After high school, Jack went on to win a Senior Championship with the Rochester Mustangs.  He was also selected to play on three U.S.A. World Hockey teams in Switzerland in 1961, Colorado in 1962, and Sweden in 1963.

In baseball, Jack pitched on the 1955 State Tournament team.  He had a record of 22-0 that year in both high school and Legion ball.  Jack threw a no-hitter as a sophomore and also one as a junior.

In addition to Jack’s undisputed athletic ability, he is remembered for the quality of his leadership.  He inspired his teammates to work up to and beyond their capabilities.

Jack now lives in Green Bay, Wisconsin, and contributes his time and abilities to the Brown County Hockey Association.  He worked for Sears for 27 years, and he is now with Bay Area Services.  He and his wife Sharon have three children.
