Jim Sims

JIM SIMS COACH 1996

Jim Sims is a graduate of Moorhead State University.  He received a Bachelor of Science degree in 1963 and a Masters of Science degree in 1966.

     During his 10 years at Lincoln High School, Jim was a teacher in the Health and Physical Education department.  He also served as the department chairman.

     As head football coach, his record was 59 wins, 27 losses and one tie.  For five straight years his teams won or shared the Conference Championship.  In 1971 his Prowlers went undefeated (9-0).  Over the years, Jim coached six All-State football players, one of which was named as a High School All-American.

     He was the head track coach from 1968-1973.  His teams won five district and two regional championships.  Several of his track athletes participated at the State level.

     Jim was a respected basketball official for 29 years and still is one of only 50 active track starters in Minnesota.

     After 19 years as a successful head football coach at the University of Minnesota-Crookston, Jim returned to Thief River Falls.  He is currently in his first year as the district’s Director of Student Activities.
