John Larson
Jon Phillip Larson was a 1958 graduate of Lincoln High School. During high school he lettered in golf and was a member of the choir, band, and Barber Shop Quartet.
Larson attended the University of Minnesota and the University of Notre Dame in the Center for Continuing Business Education.
Larson was active in community service. He was a participant in and served as president of the following organizations: Chamber of Commerce, Jaycees, Golf Club, Lions Club, Knights of Columbus, and the Curling Club. He was also a member of the T.R.F. Education Foundation and the T.R.F. Concert Association Board. He served on the City Planning Commission for sixteen years and was active in the Thief River Falls Amateur Hockey Association. Larson was also an Elk’s Club member and a Charter Member of the Northland Community College Foundation.
Larson was devoted to his faith and his church. He was president of St. Bernard’s Catholic Church Council, served on the St. Bernard’s Building Committee, and was the Men’s Choir Director for St. Bernard’s.
From 1961 to 1991, Larson managed Larson Music. After Larson Music was sold, he became a broker for Edward D. Jones in Brainerd, Minnesota. In 1995 Larson returned to Thief River Falls as a representative for Edward D. Jones.
Larson will long be remembered for his love of God, family, music, and friends.
