Marvin Jorde
Mr. Jorde is a 1954 graduate of Lincoln High School. He received both his Bachelors and Masters of Science degree in education from the University of Minnesota. He also holds a Specialist Degree in Educational Psychology from the University of Minnesota.
Marv was co-captain of the 1954 hockey team that finished with a perfect 20-0 season. This perfect record included wins over five time State Champions, Eveleth. The Prowlers met Eveleth again in the State Championship game and defeated them for a second time, 4-1.
Jorde was named to the All-State Hockey Team in 1954. A State Tournament columnist remarked that Jorde and the Prowlers were one of the fastest and best-balanced clubs ever to appear at the State Hockey Tournament.
Forty-two years after high school, Marv still skates in league play. He currently is a player-coach for the St. Paul Parkers, an amateur team that in the past 25 years has won the Minnesota title 13 times and were seven-time National Champions. Twice Marv has been chosen Most Valuable Player in the National Tournament. Former US Olympic Coach, Herb Brooks, has called him a “Living Hockey Legend”.
Marv was an Industrial Arts and Special Education teacher at Park High of Cottage Grove. He also coached hockey and golf during his 33 years of teaching from 1960 until his retirement in 1993.
