Peter Prichard is a 1962 graduate of Lincoln High School, and a 1966 graduate of Dartmouth College. He served in Vietnam and was awarded the Bronze Star and the South Vietnamese Army Staff Service Medal.
Peter began his journalism career in 1970 as copy editor at the Greenwich Times. In 1972 he joined Gannett Co., Inc. as a reporter. There he was the first journalist to win two first-place awards in one year from the New York Bar Association for reporting on drugs and the criminal justice system. In 1987 he wrote The Making of McPaper, The Inside Story of USA TODAY.
Peter is Editor of USA TODAY, the nation’s largest circulation daily newspaper. He is also Senior Vice President/News and Chief News Executive of Gannett Co., Inc., the nation’s largest newspaper company.
