Stephen Embury

STEPHEN EMBURY M.D. DISTINGUISHED ALUMNI 1994

Dr. Stephen H. Embury is a 1960 graduate of Lincoln High School and a 1964 graduate of St. Olaf College in Northfield, Minnesota.  He received his M.D. from Northwestern University in 1968 and received advanced medical training at Stanford University.

     Dr. Embury served in the US Air Force Medical Corps from 1970 to 1972.  He is Professor of Medicine at the University of California in San Francisco and has been Chief of Hematology at San Francisco General Hospital since 1982.

    Dr. Embury is the author of numerous medical publications and a textbook entitled, Sickle Cell Anemia:  Scientific Principles and Clinical Practice.
