Thomas Hanson

THOMAS J. HANSON ATHLETE/MINISTER/EDUCATOR 2003

“Life is God’s gift to you. What you do with it is your gift to God” is the saying Tom Hanson has lived by.

At Lincoln High School, Hanson was a three-sport athlete. He earned All-Conference honors for football, the team batting championship in baseball, and the starting guard position on the basketball team.  In addition to athletics, Hanson excelled in the classroom. He served in a variety of leadership positions and participated in numerous activities, including National Honor Society, Student Senate, and speech. He graduated with Honors in 1973.

While attending Moorhead State University on athletic and academic scholarships, Hanson continued his successful athletic career until an accident in 1975. Through                                                perseverance and determination he continued to excel in various leadership positions on campus, serving, for example, on the dorm council and co-founding the college literary magazine.

After graduation from college, Hanson served his country for four years in the Navy as a radioman on the USS Detroit. After his experience of leading worship services on the ship, Hanson decided on a life in Christian ministry. He became a member of Christian Fellowship Church Ministries and, in 1984, was licensed as a Lay Minister for the church.  Among his contributions is his service as chief curriculum writer for International Ministry of Christian Fellowship Churches Worldwide.

After completing his Master of Arts Degree in Teaching at National-Lewis University in 1995, Hanson taught and coached in a middle school at Waukegan, Illinois.  Later, he joined the staff at Christian Fellowship Church School, where he currently serves as principal in addition to his teaching and coaching duties.  With the gifts he has been given, Tom Hanson has chosen to serve God, country, and community.
