Tim Bergland

TIM BERGLAND ATHLETE 1997

Tim is a 1983 graduate of Lincoln High School. He attended the University of Minnesota where he studied business in the Carlson School of Management.

While attending Lincoln High School Tim was active in hockey, baseball, and cross-country. In his senior year, he captained the Prowler Hockey team, was the Most Valuable player, and was named to the All-Section and All-State Hockey teams. He also was a member of the first North Team in the Minnesota Super Hockey series and a member of Team Minnesota for the National Super Series played in Boston.  

In College Tim was a four-year letterman for the Gopher Hockey team. He was the team captain in 1987, played in two NCAA Tournaments, where Minnesota finished third both times. He was named to the WCHA All-Academic team in 1986 and 1987. 

Tim became the first and only hockey player from TRF to be drafted by the N.H.L., he was chosen by the Washington Capitols in the fourth round.  His pro career started in 1988 with the Binghamton Whalers. He has had playing stints with Baltimore, Washington, Tampa Bay, and is currently with the Chicago Wolves. Tim has played in several Stanley Cup and Turner Cup Playoffs. He also had the privilege to be a member of the 1995 U.S National team at the World Championships in Sweden.
