Tony Dorn Jr

TONY DORN, JR. ATHLETE 1996

Tony Dorn, Jr. is a 1974 graduate of Lincoln High School where he was a three-sport letterman.

     During his senior year in football, Dorn was voted Most Valuable Player, was named to three All-State teams, was selected to two High School All-American teams and played in the Minnesota North-South Shrine All-Star Game.

     He captained the 1974 hockey team and was selected on three All-State teams.  He played for the University of Minnesota for two years when the Gophers were the NCAA runner-up and National Champions.  He played three seasons with the Warroad Lakers and coached two years at Northland Community College.

     In track Tony, Jr. threw the shot and discus, culminating his senior year with a discus throw of 167’2”, which earned him a first place finish in region and a second place finish at the state meet.  He continues to hold the discus record at Lincoln High School.

     Mr. Dorn was named Minnesota’s Male Athlete of the Year and Mr. Minnesota Teen (Minnesota’s outstanding senior) in 1974.

     Tony is a successful businessman in Thief River Falls and is actively involved in the youth hockey program.
