Wesley Hovie

WESLEY J. HOVIE ATHLETE 1995

Wesley J. Hovie was an outstanding athlete who participated in football, track, and hockey for the Prowlers.  He was football captain and became the first player to be honored as an All-State Selection by the Minneapolis Tribune.  He was Co-Captain of the Hockey team and was a member of the Inter-Class Champion Basketball Team.

     After graduation Wes served in the U.S. Navy on the Light Cruiser Astoria.  After his naval duty, Mr. Hovie attended Moorhead State University.  He was a teacher and coach from 1952-1962, was in textbook sales and audiovisual sales for further years.  In 1975 Mr. Hovie founded the “Western Educational Sales, Inc.”.  This corporation is a dealership for Texas Instruments, which provides calculators for schools in the Western United States.
